Our ESG approach

Glencore’s sustainability is overseen at the highest level by our Board of Directors’ Health and Safety, Security, Environment, Communities and Human Rights (HSEC) Committee. Our SSEC Risk Management Framework provides a standardised approach to identifying, assessing, and managing SSEC risks and opportunities.

The Health, Safety, Environment and Communities (HSEC) Committee of the Glencore Group’ Board of Directors defines the strategic direction of our sustainability activities and oversees the development and implementation of our strategic Health, Safety, Environment, Communities and Human Rights (HSEC&HR) programmes.

The oversight and ultimate accountability for our Group's sustainability strategy and framework and its implementation throughout the Group rests with our management team. They take a practical approach to managing sustainable development activities across the Group. Our sustainability team provides guidance and informed leadership.

In the event of a fatal, major or catastrophic incident, the SSEC Committee reviews the investigation of the incident, its findings and next steps in collaboration with the mine's management and the Group's general management. The information they receive covers the nature of the incident, details of subsequent investigations and actions taken.
